1. The short answer is a resounding YES! Since the reasons are varied and important, I wanted to gather some keys points in one place.

Co-Impact Sourcing: dōTERRA executives and staff research and SPEND TIME ON THE GROUND in more than 40 countries around the world to locate the very best seeds, plants, growing conditions, and small family farm partners. There are no middlemen, no compromises on quality, fair wages are paid promptly, and – because doTERRA is such an excellent partner – dōTERRA has exclusive access to 96% of the crops grown by its partners as of 2018.  dōTERRA assures that its grower and distiller partners have what they need to sustain both the plants and their communities. Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils: From the very beginning, every bottle of dōTERRA essential oil is guaranteed to contain only the most pure and potent oil; to be labelled properly as to plant oils and, if applicable, other blend ingredients (ex: vanilla absolute) contained; to indicate if the oil is safe to be taken internally; to be tested via several rigorous testing methods by a third-party lab as well as in-house scientists**; and to be stamped with a lot code (as of mid-2016, the lot code can be entered on the sourcetoyou website to get the results of third party gas chromatography – mass spectrometry / GCMS testing). dōTERRA oils can be used on people of all ages*, pets, and plants; they can be applied aromatically, topically, and internally (*appropriateness, dosage, method, and frequency may differ from oil to oil). The CPTG process certifies that there are no added fillers, synthetic ingredients, lesser or different oils or constituents, or harmful contaminants in their essential oils. This protocol ensures potency, purity, and consistency batch to batch.

The “Oil Effect”: Research scientists at Roseman University’s College of Pharmacy undertook a study of dōTERRA essential oils to see whether they would perform as expected and whether they would perform better/differently from those of their main competitors and from oils reconstituted from individual constituents. Over two years – and unbeknownst to dōTERRA – these researchers observed the protein activity of oils on human cells (in other words, where it really counts – body chemistry – as opposed to results of various standard lab tests on the oils). They found that (1) dōTERRA oils always performed as expected, (2) competitor oils performed poorly or even negatively to expectations, and (3) oils reconstructed from individual components did not perform the way dōTERRA oils did. Bottom line? Other oils are not “just like” dōTERRA’s.

dōTERRA is a Healthcare Company: The blog post cover image is of Dr. Brannick Riggs, former Medical Advisory Panel member and now VP of Healthcare Initiatives (read more here: https://www.doterra.com/US/en/media-press-releases-doterra-welcomes-dr-brannick-riggs). Since its founding in 2008, dōTERRA has been committed to bringing CPTG essential oils back into the mainstream of healthcare options. A growing number of well known research hospitals and clinics such as Vanderbilt, Cleveland Clinic, and Duke have introduced dōTERRA essential oils into their protocols for patient care. Outside medical professionals on the Medical Advisory Panel and the Veterinary Advisory Panel offer independent professional input to the dōTERRA executives and leadership. In 2017, dōTERRA hosted its first one-day symposium for medical professionals (PhD level and above only, across specialties); and in 2018, there was a similar symposium for nurses. The biggest leap from a consumer point of view, I believe, is that dōTERRA has now begin the rollout of a network of clinics staffed by medical professionals trained in both natural and allopathic medicine! These clinics are accessible via low monthly subscription with no involvement of 3rd part insurance companies and include 24/7 patient access to records, telemedicine, and patient choice to use either or both types of treatments.
